How we estimate the price of your plumbing job

No matter what plumbing or gas fitting work you need done, you need to know how much it will cost. You also need to know that you can trust us to treat you honestly and fairly, and that we expect you to do the same. That’s just how we do business.

We will always:

• Use the most efficient method to work out the cost of your job
• Walk you through your costing so you understand it
• Be up-front and clear, and answer your questions
• Give you good information so you can make well informed choices
• NOT pressure you into anything
• Tell you as soon as we find something unexpected that will impact on the cost of your job.

How we price small jobs

We’ve found that small plumbing jobs can take almost as much time to set up as they take to do. We want to spend our time helping people (not answering emails) so if you have a small plumbing job, just follow these six simple steps to get it done.

1. Get in touch: First fill in our contact form.

• Happy to wait to hear from us? That’s all you need to do.
• Urgent job? Still fill in our contact form! Then call us on 022 070 6362, and leave us a message if we can’t answer straight off. We’re always checking our messages and we’ll call you back fast.

2. Answer the phone: We’ll call you. Don’t worry, we know what questions to ask. We’ll talk through your problem and work out what other information you can supply to help us get it sorted fast.

3. Send extra info: Send us photos of the problem, so we can see what’s going on. Tell us any details of things you’ve noticed that may have led to your problem happening. Anything at all, because sometimes small things turn out to be important.

4. Agree the cost: We’ll talk through the cost for the work together, and agree on a price.

5. Book a time: We’ll agree on a time for us to visit your place. We’ll give you a courtesy call 30 to 60 minutes before we come by, so that you don’t have to wait for us all day.

6. Open the door when we knock! We’ll come with everything we think we need ready to go, and get your job done.

How we estimate or quote for larger jobs

We’re used to estimating costs for individuals, businesses and contractors who are working on a large or complex project. We’ve been in the plumbing and gas fitting industry a long time, and we know what everything costs because we’re constantly sourcing materials for our clients.

Over the years we’ve developed a pretty good feeling for how much large jobs cost. One time we had to estimate a $40K job in about 30 seconds for a contractor (true story), and sometimes we’ve had two weeks to do a full written quote.

You know what? That 30 second estimate for the 40K job came out exactly right.
