Porirua plumber Arquete works through challenges

Back in 2021, Arquete was looking to learn a trade. His mum is friends with Tamaiti’s wife, Carley, and that’s how apprenticeship with 4CET became an option.
Arquete did a couple of days of work experience to see whether he liked the work, and that was it. His apprenticeship completes in 2025.
He says “I like working with the boys, and learning something new every day. Clean work is better than dirty work, but I don’t mind any of it. The first time you fix a blocked sewer you think it’s disgusting, but then you get used to it.
“Every day is different, and you keep on getting the feeling that you’re pullling off miracles.
“I like working through the challenging jobs, and helping people out.”
When he’s not busy working, Arquete enjoys playing first-person-shooter computer games and watching Warriors and Broncos games on TV. He’s also caught the snowboarding bug from Ryan, and now heads to the mountains when snow and time allow.
